Authorities at the Kissy Police Divisional Headquarters have dismissed as false recent reports circulating on social media claiming that the Kissy Police Barracks has been sold or will be relocated to York.
Sergeant Momoh Joseph Konneh of the Administration Office clarified that there are no plans to sell or move the barracks. He further disclosed that the Police Executive Management Board (EMB) has instead approved a development initiative aimed at improving living conditions within the barracks.
According to Sergeant Konneh, the EMB has sanctioned the fencing of the barracks and the construction of a modern four-storey building to provide additional apartment quarters. The project will be undertaken by Grace Mark Construction Company.
He explained that the company has voluntarily committed to supporting the barracks by constructing a new four-storey apartment building, demolishing the old quarters, and replacing them with modern two-bedroom self-contained apartments. The project will also include improved water facilities and a reliable electricity supply for residents.
Sergeant Konneh expressed appreciation to the Inspector General of Police, Mr William Fayia Sellu, and the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr Sahr Yomba Senesie, for what he described as their strong leadership and continued support towards improving police welfare.
Special recognition was also extended to the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Kissy Police Divisional Headquarters, Mr Murana Eric Kamara, for his dedication and commitment, alongside his team, in facilitating the initiative. Additional commendations were given to Support Officer Mr Siaka Kamara, members of the Administration Office, including Mr Sar Swarray and Mr John Sesay, for their contributions.
Describing the project as a long-awaited development, Sergeant Konneh called on all stakeholders and residents to embrace the initiative and cooperate fully with Grace Mark Construction Company and its workers to ensure its successful completion.
He concluded by urging unity and collective support, expressing hope that the project will significantly enhance living standards at the Kissy Police Barracks.
