Mrs Nabeela Tunis, the Minister of Western Region, through her One Love Salone Foundation, has unveiled a state-of-the-art three-classroom building worth millions of Leones.
The facility was handed over to the pupils and stakeholders of Ahmadiyya Muslims Secondary School in Zimmi Town.
The official handover ceremony for the well-furnished building took place on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, in Zimmi Town, specifically in the Makpele chiefdom of the Pujehun District. The newly constructed building includes a spacious principal’s office, a library stocked with essential books, computers, a WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) facility, and a backup generator.
During her speech, Mrs Nabeela Tunis, the Founder of the One Love Salone Foundation, expressed that the construction of the school aligns with President Bio’s vision of providing accessible and high-quality education throughout the country. She emphasized that the foundation was established not only to foster love but also to promote peace and development at all levels across Sierra Leone.
Mrs Tunis highlighted the interconnectedness of education with socioeconomic factors and reiterated the foundation’s commitment to supporting the government’s flagship education program.
Numerous stakeholders, including the Paramount Chief of Makpele Chiefdom, PC Saffa Munya Jumble Tamu III, and the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Mission in Sierra Leone, lawyer Musa Mewa, voiced their appreciation for Mrs Nabeela Tunis and her husband’s remarkable efforts. They commended their philanthropic work and assured everyone that the facility would be utilized effectively.
Furthermore, they called upon Mrs Tunis and her husband to continue their dedication to humanity, acknowledging their impactful contributions that will leave a lasting legacy.
Delivering the keynote address, Hon Mohamed Sidie Tunis, the husband of Mrs Nabeela Tunis and the Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, urged the teachers and students of the Ahmadiyya Muslims Secondary School to make the most of the new facility. He remarked, “This is not the first time my wife has brought development to the people. Mrs Tunis has previously provided solar-powered boreholes and microcredit to the women of Sorogbema and Makpele chiefdoms, among other initiatives.”
The ceremony concluded with the presentation of certificates of appreciation to teachers, students, and other stakeholders who had contributed in various ways to the construction of the school.
