Superintendent John S. Koroma, the Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Kamakwie Police Division, on Monday, 11 May 2026, engaged community stakeholders in Tambaka Yobangie Chiefdom in Karene District to strengthen community policing initiatives in hard-to-reach areas.

The engagement formed part of ongoing consultations aimed at improving collaboration between the police and traditional authorities to enhance safety and security across the chiefdom.

Speaking at the meeting, Paramount Chief Kandeh Bamba II, a retired Police Sergeant who served the Sierra Leone Police for over three decades, described the initiative as timely and proactive. He said it would help build public trust in the police and improve visibility in remote communities.

Superintendent Koroma proposed the establishment of a Local Policing Partnership Board, along with the creation of Area Policing Partnership Committees.

He explained that the proposed structures would support policing efforts through community participation, improved information sharing, and timely reporting of security concerns.

He encouraged residents to continue supporting security initiatives to promote peace and stability across the chiefdom.

The meeting ended with renewed commitments from both police and community leaders to strengthen cooperation in maintaining law and order.
