The Sierra Leone Police have reportedly arrested two Sierra Leonean nationals after a large quantity of substances suspected to be Tramadol was discovered at the Jendema border crossing in Pujehun District.
The suspects, identified as Ansu Borsua and Isata Mambu, were apprehended during an operation conducted by security personnel at the border. According to police reports, officers recovered 974 cards and four full packs of tablets believed to be Tapentadol/Tramadol from the suspects.
The seizure forms part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement authorities to combat the illegal trafficking and distribution of prohibited and controlled substances across the country’s borders.
Police have confirmed that investigations are underway to determine the origin, intended destination, and possible distribution network linked to the seized substances. The suspects remain in custody pending the outcome of the investigation.
The arrest has renewed public concern over the growing presence of illicit drugs in Sierra Leone, with many citizens and stakeholders urging authorities to intensify efforts against those responsible for importing and supplying such substances into the country.
Law enforcement officials have reiterated their commitment to tackling drug-related crimes and strengthening border security to prevent the entry of illegal drugs into Sierra Leone.
