In the ongoing pursuit of escaped inmates from Pademba Road Prison, a significant breakthrough occurred on Wednesday, 6th December 2023, around 09:00 hours at the Gbalamuya Customs border. The Local Unit Commander of Kambia Police Division, CSP Mr. Abu Bakarr Magona, leading a proactive operations team, successfully intercepted an alleged fugitive, RSLAF Corporal Talib Marrah.

Corporal Talib Marrah was purportedly involved in the security breach incident at Freetown on November 26th, 2023, and had escaped. However, he was apprehended in the Republic of Guinea by their security forces and peacefully handed over to Sierra Leone’s Commanding Officer of the 11 Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel J. Gbanie.

This transfer of custody took place in the presence of Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to the Republic of Guinea, His Excellency Mr. Alimamy Hassan Bangura, and the Defence Attaché.

Following the arrest, a thorough search was conducted at Marrah’s premises by a combined team of police and military personnel. However, no items of significant security interest were found. Marrah, alongside two other military personnel, was subsequently transported to Freetown to facilitate the ongoing investigations into the Pademba Road Prison breach incident of November 26th, 2023.
