Born in Jaiama Nimikoro Chiefdom, Kono District, Sierra Leone, Mr. Bona has worked in humanitarian response for over a decade, providing support in crisis areas around the world, including Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. He has played a key role in setting up operations and managing logistics in difficult situations, helping those who need it most.

Mr. Bona’s work with UK-MED, a UK-based medical aid organization verified by the World Health Organization, has been a major part of his efforts. For over 13 months, he has been based in Gaza, providing critical medical care to those affected by the ongoing conflict.

Even with his international work, Mr. Bona remains connected to his roots in Sierra Leone. He speaks with pride about the country’s progress under President Julius Maada Bio and the resilience of its people. “Coming from a country that has faced so many challenges, I’m motivated by the strength of my people. It pushes me to help others wherever I am,” he said.

Executives at UK-MED, including David Wightwick, Adil Shah, and Catherine Smith, all spoke highly of Mr. Bona’s commitment and bravery in his humanitarian efforts.

This recognition from King Charles III is a proud moment for Sierra Leone, as Mr. Bona continues to represent the nation’s spirit of perseverance and service to the world.
