The All People’s Congress (APC) Party’s Women in Action group informed the task force of the party on January 4, 2023 that its primary goal was to support any presidential candidate who would be chosen at the party’s National Delegates’ Convention for the elections in June 2023, underscoring their adamant opposition to the formation of camps, factions, and other groups within the party.

The information was revealed at the party’s Old Railway Line, Brookfields offices in Freetown, when representatives of the Women in Action organization were speaking to the Task Force, the party’s grassroots organization.

One of its members, Kadi Sesay, revealed that they are all APC members, that the group was formed to, among other things, serve as a pressure group to the party and its Women’s Congress, that they have no other candidates of their choosing than the APC, that there is no vacuum in nature, and that the reason they are supporting the National Executive to operate effectively until the conduct of a Convention and Delegates’ Conference. She also called for a timetable for the conduct of the Convention and Delegate

She asserted that all APC members are part of one strong, cohesive family and urged everyone to put aside squabbling and embrace love and unity. She also recalled that the party’s previous lower-level elections had been held in a peaceful manner, to everyone’s approval and administration, and she called for peaceful and transparent general elections in June of this year, reiterating that if the party wins the elections, the victory belongs to all of its members.

She continued by saying that the group has members both domestically and abroad and that it would soon be established to fill any gaps in the party prior to the National Delegates’ Conference, after which they would support the presidential and other candidates who would win the conference and run in the General Elections in June of this year.

Santigie Bangura, Director of Operations for the APC Task Force, thanked the Women in Action group for recognizing them as a unit. She also commended the group for taking the initiative to unite and acknowledged that the party still has a lot of work to do before the elections, but she is optimistic that the party will win.

Danke A group member named Edward Kargbo hinted that the Task Force is significant to the party, noted that her late father was a founder member, and urged cooperation within the party to triumph in the upcoming elections.

Other APC Women in Action members, like Wotay Dura, pledged to make sure the Task Force is upgraded to make members independent, that they are all one family, urged the Task Force to continue its good work, that the party’s struggle began long ago, that they would make sure the right candidates are elected, appealed to them to focus on the party and not individuals as well as vote for the right candidates, and emphasized the importance of PE.

The event had a far higher attendance than anticipated, and it concluded with the crowd singing the victory song for the party before receiving a vote of appreciation.
