President Dr. Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Dr. Fatima Maada Bio participated in a poignant celebration at St. Anthony’s Parish, Savage Street in Brookfields on Sunday, June 16th, 2024. The occasion marked the St. Anthony’s Patronal Feast Celebration 2024, dedicated to honoring the life and contributions of St. Anthony of Padua.

St. Anthony, renowned for his profound preaching, knowledge of scripture, and compassionate service to the needy, was swiftly canonized due to these virtues. He is revered globally as the patron saint of lost items, symbolizing hope and devotion beyond his native Portugal.

The festivities commenced with a solemn Mass led by Father Emmanuel Kamara, where parishioners engaged in prayers, hymns, and reflections echoing St. Anthony’s enduring legacy.

This year’s theme, “Building A Vibrant Parish,” resonated strongly throughout the event.

President Bio, in his address, underscored the significance of nurturing a cohesive parish community founded on peace, unity, and unwavering faith.

He reminded attendees, “Our strength lies in our shared faith and our commitment to supporting one another,” urging continued efforts towards community-building and the empowerment of Sierra Leone’s youth through education.

Highlighting the event was a heartfelt presentation by the parish’s children on St. Anthony’s life, which deeply moved the congregation.

The celebration concluded with attendees departing with renewed determination to strengthen their faith and foster a more resilient and united parish community.
