President Julius Maada Bio on Friday, June 12, 2026, joined Sierra Leonean pilgrims who recently returned from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after successfully completing the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage for Jumma prayers at State House.
The gathering brought together the returning pilgrims and members of the Muslim community in a moment of worship, thanksgiving, and reflection following the completion of one of Islam’s most sacred obligations.
Speaking after the prayers, President Bio reaffirmed his government’s commitment to supporting Sierra Leonean Muslims undertaking the annual pilgrimage. He noted that deliberate efforts had been made to ensure that the country’s pilgrims performed the Hajj in an atmosphere of dignity, safety, and reverence.

The President described Hajj as a deeply significant pillar of Islam and commended the pilgrims for fulfilling their religious obligation. He expressed hope that the spiritual journey would inspire greater peace, unity, and devotion among the faithful.
President Bio also offered prayers for the acceptance of the pilgrims’ acts of worship, asking Allah to answer their supplications and grant blessings to them, their families, and the nation.

The annual Hajj pilgrimage draws millions of Muslims from across the world to the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, where they perform a series of religious rites prescribed by Islam. Sierra Leone sends hundreds of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia each year through arrangements coordinated by the government and relevant Islamic bodies.
The President’s participation in the Jumma prayers reflects the importance of religious harmony and the government’s continued engagement with faith-based communities across the country.
