President Julius Maada Bio on Friday welcomed the Lead Moral Guarantor, Fatoumata Jallow-Tambajang, and her delegation to State House, reaffirming his government’s commitment to the Agreement for National Unity.

The engagement forms part of ongoing efforts to sustain the mediated dialogue process initiated in October 2023, aimed at fostering political stability and inclusiveness in Sierra Leone.

The Moral Guarantors held high-level discussions with President Bio, Vice President Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, and other senior government officials on the progress made in implementing the agreement.

Addressing the delegation, President Bio emphasised his vision of Sierra Leone as a united family rather than a politically divided state. Reflecting on past political tensions, he noted that his administration inherited a difficult situation, which he said had been shaped by attempts to create a one-party system under the opposition All People’s Congress (APC).

He stated that despite the challenges, he remained committed to democratic principles, adding that his leadership has been focused on strengthening democratic governance out of his deep love for the country.

President Bio also highlighted ongoing government efforts to ease the economic burden on citizens, particularly through measures aimed at reducing fuel prices and improving living conditions.

On electoral concerns raised by the APC, the President reiterated that his government had introduced reforms to enhance transparency and credibility in the electoral system. He stressed that the reform process had been inclusive and open, allowing stakeholders, including the Moral Guarantors, to observe and contribute.

He concluded by expressing appreciation to the delegation and Vice President Jalloh for their continued efforts in supporting Sierra Leone’s path toward unity, peace, and democratic consolidation.
