West Africa Elders Forum (WAEF) is a group of erstwhile Presidents who have come together as elders in West Africa with the sole aim if tackling issues affecting the region.

On their quarterly meeting this month in Abidjan , Ivory Coast, erstwhile President Ernest Bai Koroma has today on his Twitter handle disclosed the possible outcomes of the said meeting.

Ernest Bai Koroma left Sierra Leone to Abidjan on 21st November, 2022 ahead of the meeting. Delegates of the said meeting included it’s Chairman, former President of Nigeria Goodluck Jonathan, former President of Liberia Ellen Johnson-Sirlief, Yayi Boni of Benin, Dr Mohamed Chambas, the former United Nations special representative for West Africa.

The Meeting was held on 22nd November, 2022 at the Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire, in Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire.

One of key reason among other of the meeting was geared on effective democracy. A very productive meeting with reviewing progress & setbacks on democracy in West Africa.
After days of delibrations and pondering on these issues, Ernest Bai Koroma disclosed the team has agreed on proactive next steps in their engagements
with stakeholders in the region and on their continued collaboration with ECOWAS.
Ernest Bai Koroma went on to say that the WAEF collective strides are geared towards making West Africa more peaceful and the democracy of the region more meaningful to its people.
