The President, Julius Maada Bio and the First Lady, Fatima Bio have succeeded in their request from President Adama Barrow of the Gambia to lift the Residential Permit Tax for Sierra Leoneans living in the Gambia.

According to the First Lady, Sierra Leoneans can now live in the Gambia freely with no worries to pay any Residential Permit tax. She gives this good news on a video posted on her Facebook Timeline, For Sierra Leoneans to celebrate their family’s freedom to live in the Gambia freely.

“For far too long Sierra Leoneans in Gambia have been complaining for the Residential Permit issue, therefore I and the president went to the Gambia and requested from our brother, President Adama Barrow of the Republic of the Gambia, to lift the residential permit tax for Sierra Leoneans living in the Gambia. Now I want to tell you all that we have succeed” she said.

Fatima Bio expressed how pleased she is with President Adama Barrow for accepting their request, adding that this is how Africa should be, and that Africans should be living and interacting with each other freely. She furthered that, Gambians and Sierra Leoneans are one people, therefore we should not be paying to live in each other’s country.

The first lady thanked her husband, President Julius Maada Bio and the President of the Gambia, Adama Barrow for taking the bold step and starting this journey for us in Africa.
