The Ministry of Employment, Labour and Social Security has warned the public to disregard a fraudulent public notice circulating online that falsely claims the government has signed contracts with the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and Australia to supply Sierra Leonean workers for skilled and unskilled positions.

The fake notice, dated May 1, 2026, bore the ministry’s logo and purported to carry the signature of Minister Mohamed Rahman Swaray. It listed positions ranging from registered nurses and teachers to supermarket helpers, fruit packers, and farm hands, and directed applicants to contact an individual identified as Mr. Mohamed M. Koroma via a mobile number and email address.

“Do not fall victim to scammers; this information is fake,” the ministry said in a statement posted on its official social media channels. “The Ministry advises the public that any programme or service not communicated through its official channels should be disregarded.”

The fraudulent notice claimed the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation had collaborated with the governments of the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and Australia to address labour shortages in those countries.

Authorities have not confirmed whether any investigation into the origin of the fake notice has been launched. The mobile number listed in the fraudulent advert has not been officially linked to any government official.

The ministry urged all Sierra Leoneans to rely solely on information disseminated through its verified official channels and to report any suspicious recruitment schemes to the nearest police station or labour office.

The public warning comes amid growing concerns about job scams targeting Sierra Leoneans seeking employment opportunities abroad.
