The Head of Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), Alice Patterson Albright is expected on a three-day courtesy visit to the Government of Sierra Leone on development and progress experienced in the country on a compact programme.

Albright added that the compact will reflect MCC’s continued commitment to promoting resilient, long-term benefits to Sierra Leone’s economy.

The MCC delegation is to conduct bilateral meetings to advance the nation’s compact grant program. The Sierra Leone compact aims to increase the availability of affordable and reliable electricity to satisfy demand among households, businesses, and social institutions.

Alice during the three-day visit, the MCC Chief Executive Officer accompanied by Ambassador Reimer and MCC Deputy Chief of Staff Dan Petrie will visit President Maada Bio, the Vice-President, Juldeh Jalloh and the Minister of Finance to commiserate with the government on successful projects undertaken since 2018 and action on the energy sector steering committee.

The Head of MCC visit is also to facilitate the scorecard of the MCC key indicators of development which includes control of corruption and good governance.

The MCC also noted that Sierra Leone qualified for a compact in regards to the government’s commitment to sustainable development and the crackdown on corruption with a score of 79% recently.

Before 2018, the country failed the key MCC indicators including the control of corruption among other vices that threatened democracy in the country.
