The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security’s Regional Rice Value Chain Project (RRVCP) recently convened a crucial meeting with farm-based organizations (FBOs) and small-medium enterprises (SMEs) in Tormabum, Bum Chiefdom, Bonthe District. The focus of the engagement was the introduction of a new Islamic Microfinance loan scheme, which will be facilitated through Apex Bank.
This initiative aims to provide much-needed financial support to FBOs and SMEs, particularly targeting women and youth in the region. During the meeting, representatives from the Ministry outlined the key aspects of the loan scheme and provided detailed guidance on the application process. The scheme is designed to bolster the local rice value chain, enhancing productivity and economic growth within the district.
The RRVCP’s engagement underscores the government’s commitment to empowering rural communities and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. The introduction of the Islamic Microfinance loan scheme marks a significant step toward achieving these goals, offering accessible financial resources to boost local enterprises and support the livelihoods of those involved in the agricultural sector. Farmers felt enlightened and appreciated the scheme.
