The Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning successfully wrapped up a three-day capacity-building training program aimed at strengthening land management and administration services in Sierra Leone.

Held at Sierra Palms, the event was part of ongoing institutional reforms within the land sector, bringing together key stakeholders to enhance efficiency and governance.

Participants included representatives from the University of Sierra Leone, Njala University, Eastern Technical University in Kenema, the National Land Commission, and various ministry departments.

Key topics covered in the training include International Best Practices in land administration, Fit-For-Purpose Land Administration strategies, advancements in surveying technologies, and the principles and practices of land title registrations.

Experts from Kadaster, the Dutch land registry and mapping agency, alongside faculty from the University of Twente’s School of Land Administration, led the sessions. Their expertise provided participants with practical skills and innovative approaches to land management challenges.

Ministry officials emphasized that the training was a crucial step toward building a more competent workforce capable of delivering efficient land services. Participants expressed optimism about applying the newly acquired knowledge to streamline operations and improve service delivery.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to continuous capacity development, ensuring that Sierra Leone’s land sector keeps pace with global standards for sustainable development and improved public service.
