The Missionary Sisters Our Lady of Holy Rosary has embark on community education and sensitization campaign on teenage pregnancy.
This sensitization was organized at Hastings community in the east part of Freetown.The sensitization bring together school pupils, community elders, police officers, and activists, all matching in the street.
Speaking during the sensitization campaign, police officer Leticia Parkings attached to the Hastings Police Station described the move taken by the Missionary Sisters Our Lady of Holy Rosary as a brilliant Initiative in complementing the work of the Sierra Leone Police Family Support Unit.
She added that such a programme will help girls to await their Fullness of Life as girls are surrounded by several social challenges.
Police Officer Leticia Parkings called on girls to say no to Teenage Pregnancy, early Marriage, and every form of child abuse for them to become better people in society and encouraged them to report any form of abuse to the Family Support Units of the Sierra Leone Police in their respective communities.
Madam Parkings encouraged parents to monitor the activities of their children on a daily basis and not to send them out for night classes to avoid peer group pressure.
she added that the fullness of life for children management programme is good as it has created an insight among girls to protect themselves and for defaulters to refrain from such bad practices at community level.
“We want our children to carry bags and not babies,” she stated.
