The Station Manager of SLBC in Makeni has sacked two hardworking staff for playing music he considered a satire to the current state of the country.
The manager stressed that any music especially from L.A.J and other revolutionary artists which carries messages of hardship in the country and corrupt practices of government officials should not be played on radio and Tv.
The manager’s action contravenes president Bio’s efforts to repeal libel law and his attempt to guarantee freedom of speech, good governance and human rights.
We call on Human Rights institutions and Civil Society organizations to intervene and call for the immediate reversal of the Manager’s decision.
This must be a wake up call for all including the international community as the Manager’s action is one step forward to silence the media during elections.
Save our democracy! Save Sierra Leone!!
Say no to media intimidation
