Orange Sierra Leone and the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration aimed at advancing women’s empowerment, child protection and digital inclusion across Sierra Leone.
The commitment was made during a high-level meeting held in Freetown on July 2, 2026, where both parties discussed ways to expand ongoing initiatives that support the welfare and development of women and children.
The meeting focused on reinforcing the longstanding partnership between the Ministry and Orange Sierra Leone, with discussions centred on promoting gender equality, enhancing child protection systems, increasing digital inclusion and improving access to education.
Speaking during the engagement, the Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs, Dr. Isata Mahoi, underscored the importance of private-sector collaboration in accelerating national efforts to build a safer and more inclusive society. She commended Orange Sierra Leone for its continued investment in community development, particularly through programmes that empower women and promote digital literacy.
Orange Sierra Leone Chief Executive Officer, Madam Aicha Tour, praised the Ministry’s leadership and commitment to advancing gender equality and protecting the rights and well-being of women and children. She reaffirmed the company’s readiness to continue supporting initiatives that create lasting social impact.
The discussions also highlighted the contribution of the Orange Foundation, which has already provided digital skills training to more than 500 women across Sierra Leone while supporting educational programmes for children, demonstrating the company’s commitment to inclusive development.
Both the Ministry and Orange Sierra Leone concluded the meeting by reaffirming their shared resolve to deepen their partnership, strengthen child protection, expand opportunities for women, and promote inclusive development that improves the lives of women and children throughout Sierra Leone.
The renewed partnership reflects a shared commitment to fostering a more equitable, empowered and inclusive Sierra Leone through sustained collaboration between government and the private sector.
