As his tenure draws to a close, Ambassador Manuel Müller, the outgoing Head of the European Union Delegation to Sierra Leone, paid a farewell visit to Mohamed Rahman Swaray, the Minister of Employment, Labour, and Social Security.
Ambassador Müller, who has led the EU Delegation in Sierra Leone for the past three years, used the occasion to reflect on their collaborative efforts and discuss ongoing projects.
During their meeting, the two leaders reviewed the progress of several key initiatives, including the Decent Work Country Programme Phase II, the Labour Migration Policy review, and the EU-funded Opportunity Salone Programme.
Ambassador Müller expressed his appreciation for the Labour Ministry’s pivotal role in these programmes and praised the positive interactions he has had with both the government and the people of Sierra Leone.
Minister Swaray, joined by senior management staff, thanked Ambassador Müller for his dedicated service and commitment to fostering peace, stability, and national cohesion.
He specifically highlighted the Ambassador’s instrumental role in establishing the National Tripartite Committee and emphasized the importance of development partners in advancing President Julius Maada Bio’s Big Five Game Changer Agenda. This agenda aims to extend development and essential services to even the most remote regions of the country.
As they bid each other farewell, both Ambassador Müller and Minister Swaray reiterated their commitment to maintaining and strengthening the enduring relationship between Sierra Leone and the European Union.
The Ambassador expressed confidence that his successor would continue to build on the strong ties and collaborative spirit established during his tenure.
