A combined team of armed police officers and general duty personnel led by the Local Unit Commander of Waterloo Division, Assistant Commissioner Khrushchev Kargbo early this week raided and cultivated over one mile cannabis sativa (Jamba) farms planted at Gbonkoi village and other villages, on the outskirt of Kerry Town in the Western Rural District.

Confirming the news to New Vision yesterday, AC Kargbo said they acted on a tip off. He said they had intelligence that some people have planted cannabis sativa in that part of the district.  He said he immediately put together a strong team that went to the scene and cultivated and destroyed the jamba farm.

“We cultivated the Jamba farm. We are going to continue this exercise in my entire Division. I am therefore warning all those who are in the habit of planting and selling this drug to stop forthwith, failing which they have nobody to blame,” AC Kargbo said.

He said he took over Waterloo Division on December 19th, 2021. He said he will build on the successes of his predecessor in addition to consolidating the gains already made. He said he will intensify the raids in gray and hard to reach areas, to deter criminals from going about their criminal acts.

AC Kargbo said his administration will continue to engage stakeholders including members of the Local Policing Partnership Board, the twelve traditional leaders, youth, and women groups in Waterloo, Tombo, Devil Hole and Kerry Town among others. He said he has also engat4ed members of the Motor Drivers and General Transport Workers Union, Bike Riders Union, and Keke Riders Union about the indiscipline and lawlessness of some of their members and the need for them to maintain law and order and how they should not take the laws into their hands.

New Vision Newspaper reports that, AC Kargbo said he has four police stations and twelve posts in his division, adding that there is effective communication and coordination among his personnel.
