The Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) has achieved an 87% compliance score in the first quarter monitoring of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy 2024-2028, ranking first among Agencies, Authorities, and commissions, alongside the Sierra Leone Airport Authority.

The results were published in the First Quarter Monitoring Report produced by the National Anti-Corruption Strategy Secretariat in collaboration with the Anti-Corruption Commission. The assessment covered 95 public institutions nationwide and measured implementation of 23 action points related to anti-corruption measures, governance standards, accountability, internal controls, and transparency.

According to the report, SLPHA implemented 20 of the 23 assessed action points, leaving three outstanding. The national average compliance rate across all institutions was 42 percent.

The report noted that institutions with high compliance had strengthened internal control systems, established Integrity Management Committees, improved oversight mechanisms, adopted digital financial management processes, and increased transparency in administrative and financial operations. SLPHA said these measures align with its ongoing corporate governance and institutional strengthening reforms.

Director General of SLPHA, Yankuba Askia Bio, welcomed the recognition, stating that the result reflects the institution’s dedication to transparency and ethical leadership. He said the score should enhance public confidence in the Authority and reinforce its reputation as a responsible institution contributing to national development.

Bio added that the Authority remains committed to sustaining the gains by continuing to strengthen internal controls, enhance transparency, promote ethical conduct, and support national efforts to prevent corruption and promote good governance.
