Sierra Leone’s minister of sport, Madam Augusta James-Teima, has expressed deep concern over the effects of doping on sportsmanship and fair competition in the country.
She maintained that there has to be total coordination among stakeholders in the sporting sector to discourage the imminence effect that doping has and how they can work in giving the sector very proactive and getting the actual progress it deserves.
She stressed that there is a strict law for someone that may involve in the act as offenders may have very serious consequences, adding that, doping is a criminal offence under both national and international laws. “Athletes must serve as role models, not liabilities,” she asserted.
The Minister called on various representatives from the various National Sport Organizations in the country to prioritise the game and always make sure that the right thing is done in pushing the spirit of sport in the country.
