A tragic accident claimed the life of a three-year-old boy, Johnloh Kallon, in Mogbwemo Town on August 25, 2024, after he reportedly fell into an uncovered septic tank at a construction site.

The incident occurred around 1:20 p.m. at the Resource Center in Imperi Chiefdom. According to reports, Johnloh was found unresponsive near the water-filled septic tank, which had been left uncovered. A worn-out Honda tire was discovered nearby, raising concerns about safety measures at the site.

The local youth leader, Mr. Patrick Songa, reported the incident to authorities at approximately 3:02 p.m. In response, a team of police officers, led by Detective Police Constable 14510 Briana M and under the directive of Superintendent Alhaji Mustapha Senesie, swiftly arrived at the scene. They were accompanied by the complainant and Francis Massaquoi, a Community Health Officer (CHO) from the Mogbwemo Town Health Center.

The CHO conducted a preliminary examination of the young boy before his remains were handed over to his grieving family, led by his father, Mr. Vandy Kallon. The police have issued a medical request form for further examination by a medical doctor to officially confirm the cause of death.

The Rutile Division’s Crime Records Department (CRD) and Media Officer, Amara Kallon, have confirmed that an investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are urging residents to exercise caution around construction sites to prevent future tragedies.

The community remains in mourning as they cope with the devastating loss of the young boy.
