Trocare in collaboration with CAFOD and AAD-SL have provided training to about 60 local Non Governmental Organisations on the rolling out of Localisation agenda. This session took place on the 15th December, 2023 at the Port Loko District council hall.
Speaking in an interview during the occasion, Brima Sellu, the Localisation and partner manager for Trocare said, the purpose was to ” Discuss together and understand what is localisation and the role and responsibility of donors, INGO’s in upholding the principles of Localisation.” Adding that, “this process stated way back after the launching of the charter for change initiative in a world humanitarian summit.”
David Joseph Alieu, the national coordinator of Civil Society Advocacy Network on Climate Change and Environment Sierra Leone, from Freetown, in sharing his take about the event, recounted that, “This is an eye opener for local organisations in Sierra Leone.” And that he dove his heart for the organisers.Another participant, Fatmata Samura Bangs, the field officer for the rainbow initiative in Kambia district mentioned that, the training will help them to have a sustainable implementation of programs to the locals in various communities. She advised every one to learn to be accountable, trustworthy and people who should persevere and bring change in communities.
This event converge many individuals representing different NGO’S from Western Area Rural and Urban, Port Loko and Kambia Districts, marking the last session after rolling out in all other four regions of Sierra Leone.
