The US Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Bryan Hunt, expressed his pleasure and extended congratulations to President Julius Maada Bio for the significant progress achieved by the Tripartite Commission. During a recent update session, Ambassador Hunt highlighted the commission’s impressive accomplishments and the national unity evident in its work.
The Tripartite Commission, established to address critical national issues and foster unity, has been a cornerstone of President Bio’s administration. Its mandate includes promoting reconciliation, transparency, and development across Sierra Leone. The commission’s work has been widely praised for its inclusive approach and dedication to bridging historical divides.
Ambassador Hunt lauded the commission’s achievements to date, underscoring the Embassy’s recognition of its diligent efforts and the spirit of collaboration it embodies. “The progress made to date is truly impressive,” Hunt stated. “The Embassy congratulates the commission for its achievements and the spirit of national unity that has characterized its work.”
In a move that has garnered widespread support, President Bio recently announced a brief extension of the commission’s mandate. This extension is intended to allow the commission to finalize its comprehensive report, ensuring that no aspect of its critical task is overlooked. Ambassador Hunt praised this decision as wise and necessary for the commission to conclude its work thoroughly.
“We equally applaud the President’s wise decision to extend the commission’s mandate briefly to allow it to finalize its historic task,” Hunt added. He emphasized the importance of patience and support from the public during this final phase of the commission’s work. “We share the public’s eagerness to see the final report and urge all to remain patient and allow the commission the time and space required to carry out its mandate with the thoroughness and serious deliberation that such a monumental undertaking requires.”
The Tripartite Commission’s final report is anticipated to provide a roadmap for continued national progress and unity. As the commission enters its concluding phase, the US Embassy and the international community remain supportive, recognizing the significance of its mission for Sierra Leone’s future.
