The recently appointed US Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Bryan D. Hunt, met with the Sierra Leonean embassy staff on Friday, August 18th, 2023. 

This meeting represents a significant stride in enhancing relations between the United States and Sierra Leone, rooted in the value of mutual respect.

Mr. Hunt is taking over from Ambassador David Reimer, who has dutifully served the US mission in Sierra Leone for several years

In a unanimous decision, Bryan David Hunt was confirmed by a voice vote to serve as the Ambassador to the Republic of Sierra Leone, as announced by Senate Cloakroom. The confirmation, took place through the Executive Calendar #221, highlights the Senate’s approval of Hunt’s appointment to represent the United States in the West African nation

Hunt was nominated by President Joe Biden months ago.
Virginian native is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, class of Minister Counselor, currently serves as the Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to the United States Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

Prior to that, Mr. Hunt, served as Director, Office of South Sudan and Sudan, Bureau of African Affairs, Department of State, Washington, D.C. and, also served as the State Department’s Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for East Africa and the Sudans.
