The Electoral Commissioner of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), Mohamed Kenewui Konneh has informed the press that they will be establishing regional tally centres for the June elections.

Konneh said they have earmarked five districts including Freetown, Bo, Kenema, Makeni and Port Loko to establish the said centres.

The ECSL said that the results management system teams together with other important stakeholders will be hosted in order to process the results.

They said that Freetown’s tally centre will be hosted at the ECSL’s National Tally Centre at Wellington Industrial Estate.

The Commissioner stated that the ECSL is about to procure digital equipment in order for the tally centres to be fully operational.

Konneh said it will take the ECSL about four weeks to set up the centres.

Sierra Leoneans will be going to the polls in a multi-tier election this June.

Political analysts have predicted that the incumbent Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) will face stiff competition from the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC).

The SLPP defeated the APC twice in the 2018 elections but recent economic hardship has triggered doubts in some locals as to whether they are up to the task to sail the West African nation through.
