The ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) Campaign in Koinadugu District, Northern Sierra Leone is at an apex stage as the Vice President, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh and other top party members try to woo supporters.
The incumbent government has made significant effort to gain votes in opposition strongholds recently and it seemed to have paid off.
A recent survey by the Institute for Governance Reform (IGR) late in May indicated that the SLPP is poised to win seats in the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC) party’s strongholds including Falaba and Koinadugu Districts.
The erstwhile government of Ernest Bai Koroma Koinadugu was presumably a red district. However, recent happenings have suggested otherwise.
Political analysts have attributed the increasing support of the ruling party in the district to strategies developed by party member and cabinet minister, Umaru Napoleon Koroma.
Meanwhile, the President Julius Maada Bio has been spotted in Mattru Jong, Bonthe District on Friday leading the SLPP campaign.
Bonthe, located in Southern Sierra Leone, is the president’s home district.
Sierra Leone is set to go the polls on June 24 in a multitier election that will dominate with issues like the economy, agriculture and infrastructure.
