Julius Mustapha Harding Mohamed Gento Kamara, the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) 2023 Mayoral Candidate, has announced his exit from the world of politics.
Despite gaining considerable attention during his mayoral campaign, Kamara has chosen to forego any further political ambitions and is redirecting his energies toward his business pursuits.
During an exclusive interview on Radio Democracy 98.1 FM, Kamara openly expressed his profound disillusionment with the contentious nature of the political landscape. He pointed to the ceaseless internal strife and disloyalty that pervades the realm of politics as the primary drivers behind his decision.
In candid terms, he revealed,”The fight and backstabbing is something I can’t stand. Politics is not for me”
From his statement, he testified that, the strife and backstabbing have become unbearable. Politics is not where he belong.
This unexpected departure is set to reshape Sierra Leone’s political arena, creating an unexpected void in the SLPP’s future electoral strategies.

I just do not understand, but God is the one who knows the answers. Why did God created those CANTANKEROUS human beings in our beloved country, sierra leone. They don’t have no respects for their own citizens because of politics. Listen, your better repent and give your life to Jesus Christ. Why pretending? Just accept the simple fact that you’ve failed because you were never a sincere character in the first place. The fact remains, you entered into SL politics for your own selfish interest. Please Mr Gento during your campaign, u visited our mosque at Gassama street calaba town and you made a promise there to complete the construction work of the masjid so u have to full fill your promise because it’s a debt to the site of Allah and also Gassama street as well
From the beginning, I knew Gento is not a politician. It’s good that he is now focusing on the business world which is his real calling. God has a calling for everyone. It’s just too disappointing that his stint in politics has created more enemies for him.
