The Sierra Leone People’s Party National Young Generation Council (SLPP-NYGC) has issued a stern warning against what it describes as a deliberate campaign of disinformation aimed at tarnishing the council’s reputation. The leadership of the SLPP-NYGC, under the guidance of Ing. Francis Alpha Kallon, has categorically dismissed recent flyers and messages circulating on social media that falsely claim the council’s endorsement of certain flag-bearer aspirants within the party.

In a statement released today, the SLPP-NYGC made it clear that these claims are not only baseless but are also a calculated attempt to drag the council’s image into disrepute. “All flyers and messages purportedly from the NYGC in declaration of any flag-bearer aspirant are not only false but a deliberate attempt to drag the image of the council into disrepute,” the statement read.

The council emphasized its unwavering focus on supporting the leadership of President Julius Maada Bio, particularly in the successful implementation of his “Big Five Game Changer Agenda,” with a special emphasis on the flagship “Feed Salone” project. This agenda, according to the SLPP-NYGC, remains the council’s top priority.

Under the leadership of Ing. Kallon, who was elected as National Young Generation Leader, the SLPP-NYGC has reportedly achieved significant milestones, particularly in restoring the dignity of young people in governance. The statement highlighted the appointment of young people to senior leadership roles in government as a direct result of the council’s advocacy efforts, which were underscored during their 2023 conference in Kenema.

The council assured the public that, at the appropriate time, it will release a comprehensive report detailing its successes, which include advocating for job opportunities, securing scholarships, and supporting various campaigns.

The SLPP-NYGC reiterated its commitment to delivering on President Bio’s manifesto promises and cautioned against any attempts to mislead the public or divert the council from its mission. “The NYGC is focused on ensuring it provides the requisite services and support to President Bio and all elected and appointed young leaders to deliver for this country,” the statement continued. “Any other message contrary to that direction is null and void, and nobody, I mean nobody, will drag the SLPP-NYGC leadership into their desperation moves to becoming flag bearer.”

The leadership of the SLPP-NYGC remains steadfast in its mission to support the President and his administration, urging all members and supporters to remain vigilant against disinformation and to continue working towards the common goal of national development.
