Born in the UK to Sierra Leonean parents, Nadim Bart-Williams graduated with a law degree and even moved forward to secure a Master’s degree but his passion has always been sport and when the opportunity knocked after his internship at Formula 1, he took it. He became a staff writer at the F3, F2 and F1 paddock –telling compelling stories about Formula 1.

He started as a social media marketing intern in January 2022 before becoming a Junior staff writer in July that same year. Nadim was promoted to an F2 and F3 staff writer in February 2024 where he continues to do what he loves.

Nadim discovered his passion for sport writing when he started a blog during COVID lockdown. Four years ago, he freelanced, Eyes On The Ball TV and a year after that he started his blog, Borderline Sports where he wrote in-depth articles on sports such as rugby, football and cricket.

“It was the most fun I was having,” he said. “It wasn’t about whether people liked it or not it was because I was enjoying it.”

He continued his writing until his internship at Formula 1. His first stop at a circuit soon came in 2021.

The sport writer explained that one of his motivating factors for his job is his love for all kinds of sport. Bart-Williams said his father also encouraged him for his love for sport. “Every Sunday I think I sit in front of him and watch the races,” he said. The staff-writer could recall, during those days, when Lewis Hamilton became the first black driver to win an F1 title. He said he never realised how impactful that could be until when he left Sierra Leone for the UK at the age of 12.

“I think as a kid you never know the significance of this (Hamilton’s victory) until when I grew older and moved to the UK and started to understand what racism was,” he said.

Although he came from a family of lawyers, Nadim’s family embraced him for what he loves doing. He continues to express his passion for sports through telling the stories of cars, drivers and circuits to millions of Formula 1 fans in the world.
