Two of Sierra Leone’s leading female football officials have moved closer to representing the country on the continental stage after completing the prestigious Confederation of African Football (CAF) Pre-WAFCON Referees Preparation Course.

Referee Aminata Fullah and Assistant Referee Agnes Gbla successfully passed all physical, theoretical, and technical assessments during the course held in Cairo, Egypt.

The intensive training programme is aimed at identifying and preparing Africa’s elite match officials for the high-pressure environment of the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON). Having successfully completed the demanding preparatory phase, Fullah and Gbla now await CAF’s official announcement of the final refereeing roster for the tournament.

Following the achievement, the Sierra Leone Football Association issued an official statement commending the duo for their dedication and performance during the course in Cairo.

“The Sierra Leone Football Association congratulates Aminata Fullah and Agnes Gbla on completing the CAF Pre-WAFCON Referees Preparation Course,” the SLFA stated. “We are proud of your achievement and wish you both the very best as you continue to raise Sierra Leone’s flag on the continental stage.”

If selected, Fullah and Gbla will join an elite group of African officials entrusted with officiating the continent’s flagship women’s football tournament, marking a significant milestone for refereeing development in Sierra Leone.
