The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Emergency Disciplinary Committee has awarded Waterloo Football Club three points and two goals following the abandonment of their National First Division Play-Off semifinal match against Marampa Stars Football Club.
The match played on 16 July 2026 at the Port Loko Playing Field was abandoned after the Committee found that the incident was caused by the actions of Marampa Stars FC supporters and club officials.
In its final decision, the Committee said it reviewed the Referee’s Report, the Match Commissioner’s Report, and the applicable competition rules before concluding that Marampa Stars FC was responsible for the abandonment.
As a result, Marampa Stars FC has forfeited the match, confirming Waterloo FC’s promotion to the Premier League. Waterloo FC will now face Western United in the National Division One Play-Off final scheduled for Saturday, 18 July 2026, in Port Loko.
The Committee also imposed a series of sanctions on Marampa Stars FC and some of its officials.
The club has been fined NLe 15,000 and will be responsible for any verified damages caused by its supporters.
Marampa Stars FC player Osman Mayeni Kamara has been handed a two-month suspension, an additional two-match ban, and a fine of NLe 3,000 for assaulting the referee and using abusive language.
Four Marampa Stars FC officials were also sanctioned with suspensions and fines for misconduct, interfering with the match, and allegedly inciting violence.
The SLFA said the decision was made in accordance with Rule 19 of the National First Division Play-Off Rules and Regulations 2025/2026 and is final, with no provision for an appeal.
The football governing body has condemned all forms of violence, intimidation, and misconduct that threaten the integrity of the game, while reaffirming its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of players, match officials, club officials, supporters, and other stakeholders.
The SLFA said it will continue enforcing its rules and regulations to promote discipline, respect, and fair play across all football competitions in Sierra Leone.
