The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has announced the commencement of its nationwide U-17 Boys Talent Hunt Programme, which is set to begin on Monday, 13th July 2026, as part of efforts to identify and develop the country’s next generation of football stars.

According to a public notice issued by the association, the programme will kick off at the SLFA Academy at 1:00 p.m., with similar talent identification exercises taking place simultaneously across the country’s other four regions.

The initiative forms part of the SLFA’s Players Development Pathway and is designed to identify talented young footballers who have the potential to represent Sierra Leone at higher levels of the game.

The association stated that all aspiring participants must present a valid National Identity Card or Passport before being allowed to take part in the exercise. The requirement is intended to ensure proper verification of all players.

Following the completion of the regional talent hunt, each of the five regions will select 20 outstanding players to advance to the National U-17 Talent Hunt, where they will undergo further assessment by the association’s technical team.

SLFA reaffirmed its commitment to youth football development, noting that the programme is aimed at creating a structured pathway to identify, nurture, and prepare talented U-17 players for future opportunities with Sierra Leone’s national teams.
