The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) is poised to receive a substantial financial injection of $400,000, equivalent to Le7,900,000, from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
This forthcoming funding, announced by CAF President Patrice Motsepe, is part of an initiative to support Member Associations in enhancing infrastructure, football, and youth development.
Motsepe underscored CAF’s commitment to the growth of football by doubling the annual financial support given to each Member Association from $200,000 to $400,000. During a press conference in Abidjan on Monday, the CAF President stated, “That money should be used for the development of football, nothing else!”
While the funds have not yet been received, the SLFA is optimistic about the positive impact this financial boost will have on advancing football initiatives within the nation. Once received, these funds will be earmarked for projects aimed at improving infrastructure, fostering football development, and nurturing youth talent
This upcoming financial support aligns with CAF’s broader strategy to empower Member Associations, enabling them to invest in key areas that contribute to the overall development and growth of football across the continent. The Sierra Leone Football Association eagerly anticipates the receipt of these funds and looks forward to utilizing them strategically, contributing to the advancement of football at various levels within the country.
