The Sierra Leone Senior Women’s Cricket Team has made history by winning the BCA Kalahari Women’s T20 International Tournament, securing victory in all seven of their matches held in Gaborone, Botswana.

The team was celebrated with a vibrant street parade in Freetown upon their return, showcasing the national pride in their achievement.

In the final match against the host nation, Botswana, Sierra Leone posted a total of 107 runs for five wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Botswana struggled to respond, managing only 68 runs for nine wickets, which resulted in a decisive 39-run victory for Sierra Leone.

Individual performances were standout throughout the tournament. Anne Marie Monica Kamara was named Bowler of the Series, taking 12 wickets across seven innings with an impressive bowling economy of 1.79. Captain Aminata Kamara and Emma Kamara followed closely, each securing 10 wickets, earning them second and third place in the bowling rankings, respectively.

Their success is expected to enhance Sierra Leone’s ICC Women’s T20 International ranking and inspire greater participation in women’s cricket within the country.

The team’s performance has redefined their standing within the North-West African Cricket Council (NWACC) as they prepare for the upcoming ICC Qualifier scheduled for July 2025.
