The Chairman and Leader of the National Grand Coalition (NGC), Mr. Jesmed Suma, has suspended twenty-six (26) party members.
According to the release, NGC remains committed to discipline, integrity, and accountability. “In accordance with our constitution and to protect the party’s reputation, the leadership has taken decisive action against members whose recent conduct violates various provisions of the NGC Constitution. Our members’ actions have betrayed the true values and vision of our party,” said the leadership.
Under Article 52, Subsection (1) of the NGC Constitution, the suspensions are based on several grounds, including:
Bringing disrepute and public ridicule to the NGC
Willful breaches of the party’s rules and regulations
Engaging in anti-party activities
Persistent absence from party meetings without valid reason
Creating parallel organs outside the party’s mandate
Disobeying lawful directives from party officials
Multiple instances of defrauding the party or its officials
The suspension, according the party are temporary and will remain in effect while a formal investigation is conducted by the Party’s Disciplinary Committee.
The NGC Party also disclosed that the suspended individuals involved will be thoroughly investigated, ensuring due process, and the committee will recommend appropriate actions to the National Executive Committee.
The NGC emphasizes that this decision was not taken lightly, rather it is guided by their constitutional duty to uphold unity, loyalty, and discipline within the party.
The party affirms that no individual interests will override the collective good of its members and the people of Sierra Leone. “Discipline remains the foundation of our democracy,” the release stated.
