The Director General of the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Brima Baluwa Koroma, officially welcomed Mohamed S. Kanu, the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of National Petroleum Sierra Leone Limited (NPSL), during a courtesy visit to the NPRA headquarters in the British Council Building, Tower Hill.
Koroma welcomed the NP delegation and expressed hope for Mr. Kanu’s appointment, calling it as timely and strategic.
He stressed the need of stakeholder involvement in the face of a changing business landscape, pointing out that Kanu’s broad experience in local and worldwide petroleum markets spanning over two decades positions him to promote sector growth and innovation.
Koroma confirmed the NPRA’s commitment to NPSL, describing it as a significant government partner, the sector’s top taxpayer, and a major employer. He pushed the new CEO to integrate the company’s internal processes with global best practices and to make proactive, strategic decisions in order to secure market stability and long-term success.
Mr. Kanu responded by commending the NPRA’s leadership for the noteworthy improvements and transformations achieved in recent years.
He acknowledged the changing nature of the Sierra Leonean petroleum market and promised to use his international experience, which he had gathered in Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, and Côte d’Ivoire, to help manage current industry issues.
Kanu explained the need of regulatory cooperation, emphasizing the need for ongoing engagement and collaboration with the NPRA in order to sustain NPSL’s position as a market leader.
