President Julius Maada Bio is encouraging members of the country’s diaspora community in the United States to return home, bring their skills, and actively participate in the Sierra Leone’s development.
A meeting, held in Washington D.C. on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly served as a platform for the President to outline the progress his administration has made in sectors such as education, health, infrastructure, and governance.
He positioned Sierra Leone as a nation on an “exciting path” toward becoming a “land of endless opportunities.”

President Bio urged the gathered community leaders to act as ambassadors for Sierra Leone and encouraged them to foster strong ties abroad. The central message, however, was a call for repatriation.
“He urged them to return home, bring their skills, and join us on our exciting path to turn Sierra Leone into a land of endless opportunities,” a statement from the Presidency reads.

The President reaffirmed his government’s “unwavering dedication” to creating a prosperous and lively nation, a vision he believes should inspire pride and investment from its global citizens.
In response, the diaspora community leaders at the event expressed admiration for President Bio’s leadership and acknowledged the notable advancements made in the country under his watch.
