Following the Sierra Leone Police’s declaration that she is wanted for alleged offences relating to incitement and threatening language, Zainab Sheriff, a member of the All People’s Congress (APC), has publicly responded in a video posted on social media.

In the video, Sheriff, wearing a white T-shirt with the inscription “Follow the Light” alongside an APC logo, stated that she is at her home in Freetown and is fully accessible to anyone who wishes to see her. “I cannot run from the same country I am fighting for,” she said, emphasizing her commitment to Sierra Leone and her resolve to face whatever comes.

She questioned the ethics of the warrant, suggesting that it may have been issued in error or without proper justification, and added that “whatever it is, people will know very soon.” Sheriff concluded her message with confidence, declaring, “I am not afraid. I was made for this.”

The statement comes after the Sierra Leone Police issued a public notice indicating that Sheriff is wanted for “an alleged case of threatening language; incitement and other related offences.” The notice, issued under reference number W/A 105/2026, describes Sheriff as a Sierra Leonean adult and model by occupation, with her address listed in Freetown.

The police have asked members of the public to assist with information that could lead to her arrest, providing contact details for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters in Freetown and nearby police stations. A reward was also offered for any information leading to her capture.

As of now, there has been no official response from the APC regarding Sheriff’s declaration as wanted. Sheriff’s video, however, signals her intention to remain in Sierra Leone and continue facing the allegations publicly, maintaining that she is accessible and unafraid.
