Sierra Leone President, Dr. Julius Maada Bio has publicly dismissed rumors suggesting he is suffering from cancer, assuring citizens that his recent weight loss is not related to any serious illness.

The President addressed the speculation during celebrations marking Eid-ul-Fitr, where he spoke directly to members of the public amid growing concern about his health.

Responding to claims circulating in the country, Bio rejected suggestions that he had been diagnosed with cancer, describing them as unfounded. He used the occasion to reaffirm his faith and confidence in his well-being.

“People have been claiming I’ve been diagnosed with cancer because of my weight loss. Insha’Allah, God will not give me cancer. I will only return to God when He calls me, no one in this world can decide that,” the President stated.

The remarks come after weeks of public speculation, particularly on social media, where discussions about the President’s physical appearance had intensified. His noticeable weight loss had fueled unverified claims about possible illness, prompting concern among supporters and political observers.

By addressing the issue publicly, President Bio sought to calm public anxiety and put an end to the rumors. His comments at the religious gathering also reflected a broader message of faith and resilience.

There has been no official medical report indicating any serious health condition affecting the President, and his office has not released additional statements beyond his remarks at the Eid event.

The President’s appearance at the celebration and his direct response to the rumors are expected to ease concerns, as he continues to carry out his official duties.
