Popular Sierra Leonean artist Alhaji Amadu Bah, known professionally as King Boss LA, has been reportedly arrested at Freetown International Airport.

Details surrounding the incident remain unclear at this time.

The reported arrest follows a series of legal proceedings in Bo involving the artist. On March 27, the Bo Magistrate Court No. 1 issued a bench warrant for Bah and co-accused Ibrahim Koroma after they failed to appear for a scheduled hearing. The case stems from allegations that Bah made abusive remarks directed at the Mayor of Kenema, Thomas Baio, during a stage performance in Bo.

Following the issuance of the warrant, lawyers representing Bah formally wrote to the court, arguing that their client had never been properly served with a criminal summons.

In a letter dated March 27, the legal team from Madieu Sesay & Associates stated that the summons had not been personally served as required by law, claiming instead that an affidavit filed in court alleged service was carried out via WhatsApp. The lawyers argued that such a method is not a recognized mode of service under Sierra Leone’s Criminal Procedure Act 2024.

The legal team also cited jurisdictional concerns, noting that Bah resides in Freetown, outside the jurisdiction of the Bo Magistrate Court, and argued that proper service would require involvement of a magistrate in the defendant’s area of residence. They described the affidavit of service as “irregular, invalid, and of no legal effect.”

Bah had previously denied receiving any formal communication from the court regarding the matter.
