Former Leone Stars head coach Mohamed Kallon has broken his silence following his sudden dismissal by the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), declaring that Sierra Leoneans will soon hear his side of the story.

In a cryptic social media post on April 6, 2026, Kallon wrote: “A lie has speed, but truth has endurance. Sierra Leoneans you will soon hear from me. 😡 #Trust the process 🇸🇱💙”

The post marks Kallon’s first public comment since the SLFA announced the immediate termination of his appointment as head coach of the national men’s team on April 2, 2026 .

The SLFA confirmed Kallon’s dismissal in a terse statement, describing the decision as a resolution duly adopted by its Executive Committee following “due deliberation and a considered assessment of the technical, administrative, and strategic imperatives of the national team”.

The federation stated that a leadership change was necessary to serve the best interests of both the Association and Sierra Leonean football, without providing further details on the specific reasons for the termination.

The SLFA expressed appreciation for Kallon’s service during his tenure and extended best wishes for his future professional endeavors .

Kallon’s dismissal has sparked widespread public backlash and cast fresh uncertainty over the future of the Leone Star. Fans, pundits, and former players have weighed in on a decision many have described as sudden and poorly timed.

Supporters of the former coach argue that the federation acted prematurely, pointing to the need for continuity in what was widely viewed as a rebuilding phase. “This is more than a coaching change — it affects the soul of our football,” one local analyst said during a network discussion in Freetown.

Former Sierra Leonean international Alhaji Kamara has publicly questioned the SLFA’s transparency, calling on the association to provide a clearer explanation to the public.

“The public, the supporters, and taxpayers deserve to know the real reason. SLFA needs to hold a press conference and explain what happened behind closed doors,” Kamara said.

He noted that reports suggesting Kallon’s failure to attend press conferences played a role in his dismissal would be insufficient grounds for termination. “In big countries and clubs around the world, coaches sometimes send representatives to attend press conferences. So I don’t think that alone is enough reason,” Kamara stated.

Kallon’s dismissal comes barely three months after SLFA President Babadi Kamara publicly assured fans that the federation had no intention of sacking the coach.

On January 29, 2026, Kamara told a press conference: “We have no issue with Kallon. He is a good coach and has been doing well. We are not going to sack him. We are on very good footing” .

At the time, the SLFA President disclosed that while Kallon had yet to formally sign a long-term contract, discussions were ongoing with the National Sports Authority and the Ministry of Sports to finalize arrangements. Kamara described the situation as “administrative rather than a reflection of dissatisfaction with the coach’s performance”.

Kallon was appointed head coach of the Leone Stars in February 2025, taking over from Amidu Karim. The former international captain — widely regarded as Sierra Leone’s most celebrated footballer — played for top European clubs including Inter Milan and AS Monaco and became the youngest-ever Sierra Leone international at age 15
