Children of the Nations Sierra Leone (COTN-SL) have officially announced the appointment of Mrs. Chrimonda Ojo as the organisation’s new Country Director, marking a significant leadership transition.
Mrs. Ojo, who will assume office on May 1, 2026, becomes the fifth Country Director since the organisation began operations in Sierra Leone in 1995. Her appointment signals what the organisation describes as a new phase of growth and transformation in its mission to support and empower children across the country.
In her inaugural address during the organisation’s first general staff meeting, Mrs. Ojo expressed appreciation for the contributions made by staff and partners over the past three decades. She stated that her leadership would focus on fostering a culture built on respect, integrity, and accountability, while encouraging open communication across all levels of the organisation.
She also stressed the importance of discipline and teamwork, noting that gossip and internal divisions would not be tolerated under her administration. According to her, the organisation must operate as a united family guided by shared values and a common mission.
Addressing children under the organisation’s care, Mrs. Ojo underscored the importance of education and discipline, urging them to take full advantage of the opportunities provided. She assured them of her commitment to their welfare while maintaining standards of responsibility and respect.
In separate engagements with community stakeholders, Mrs. Ojo called for stronger collaboration and transparency, encouraging community members to engage directly with leadership rather than rely on misinformation. Community representatives welcomed her appointment and expressed confidence in her ability to build on the organisation’s legacy of impact.
Meanwhile, the organisation paid tribute to Mr. John Mordeneh, who served as Acting Country Director during the transition period, commending his leadership and dedication.
COTN-SL reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing children into responsible leaders, noting that the new leadership is expected to strengthen its long-standing mission of transforming lives and communities across Sierra Leone.
