The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) has commended the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA) for its consistent compliance with social security regulations and its continued collaboration in safeguarding workers’ welfare and retirement benefits.
The commendation was made during a high-level engagement held at the Queen Elizabeth II Quay on Tuesday, 19th May 2026.
Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Director General of National Social Security and Insurance Trust, Mohamed Edwin Kamara, praised the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority for its strong cooperation, timely retirement notifications, and commitment to ensuring that employees transition smoothly into retirement.

He noted that such collaboration plays a key role in strengthening the country’s social security system and protecting the long-term interests of workers.
NASSIT also highlighted its “Project 54” initiative, which is aimed at streamlining pension processing, improving efficiency, and ensuring that retirees receive their benefits with dignity and confidence.

Both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to deepening their partnership and enhancing pension administration systems for workers across Sierra Leone.
