The Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), University of Sierra Leone, has announced that no lectures, tests, presentations, assignment submissions, or any other official academic activities shall be scheduled between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Fridays, effective immediately.

The decision, communicated in a notice signed by Deputy Registrar Albertis Bajo, is intended to recognise religious rights and responsibilities and to support the University’s commitment to religious tolerance, inclusivity, and diversity.

According to the notice, the arrangement ensures that Muslim staff and students have time to observe Jumu’ah (Friday) prayers without conflict with their academic obligations.

Lecturers affected by the rescheduling are required to collaborate with the Head of Student and Academic Affairs, Heads of Departments, and Deans of Faculties to implement the necessary adjustments.

The Institute stated that as a student-centred institution, it continuously strives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusivity.

Deans of Faculties and Heads of Departments have been instructed to ensure strict adherence to the requirement for religious tolerance.

The notice was issued on Friday, June 6, 2026.
