The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), in collaboration with FIFA, has officially commenced the 2026 FIFA Member Association (MA) Course for Youth Referees in Bo City, marking a major step in strengthening the capacity of match officials across the country.

The opening ceremony was attended by the SLFA First Vice President, Alie Badara Tarawallie, who represented SLFA President Babadi Kamara and the Executive Committee.

In his address, Tarawallie welcomed participants and urged them to approach the training with discipline, dedication, and a strong commitment to excellence. He noted that the course is aimed at preparing a new generation of referees to meet international officiating standards.

The training is being facilitated by two experienced FIFA instructors. Ali Mohamed Ahmed of Somalia is serving as the Technical Instructor, while Bento Tomas Navesse of Mozambique is leading the fitness component.

Both instructors are expected to equip participants with the essential theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for modern football officiating.

The Youth Referees Course is scheduled to run from 26th to 30th June 2026. It will be followed by the FIFA MA Course for Elite Referees, set for 1st to 5th July 2026, as part of SLFA’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality and professionalism of refereeing in Sierra Leone.
