On Sunday, September 29, 2024, Madam Susan Bona, a former flag bearer aspirant for the All Peoples’ Congress (APC), publicly declared her loyalty to the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) during an event in North America.

In her declaration, Madam Bona expressed her appreciation for the SLPP’s inclusive development programs, stating that it was the party that believed in her when others did not.

“The SLPP has shown a commitment to inclusivity and progress, which is why I stand here today,” she said.

As a demonstration of her commitment, Madam Bona donated USD $5,000 to the SLPP. She commended President Julius Maada Bio for his open and transparent leadership style, noting his willingness to allow his wife, Madam Fatima Bio, to play an active role in the nation’s development.

“President Bio’s hospitality and leadership are commendable, and his wife is a shining example of productivity and inspiration for many,” she added.

Madam Bona’s remarks were met with enthusiasm from the audience, and following her presentation, she was warmly received by the First Lady, Madam Fatima Bio, who was present at the ceremony.

The First Lady praised Madam Bona’s bravery and dedication to supporting the SLPP. “You are now a valued member of our party, and together we will achieve great feats on this adventurous journey,” she assured her.

Madam Bona’s transition from the APC to the SLPP marks a significant moment in Sierra Leonean politics, reflecting ongoing shifts within the political landscape as party members rally around the SLPP’s vision for national development.
