In a compassionate endeavor to uplift the living conditions of the underprivileged, Healthcare Without Borders Sierra Leone has recently generously donated essential food supplies to 150 elderly individuals in Gobaru, Kpanga Krim Chiefdom, Pujehun District.

The ceremony, a beacon of hope, convened at the Gobaru Court Barry and drew the presence of esteemed figures including Paramount Chief P.C Samuel Ansumana Saffa Gbonda the Second of Kpanga Krim Chiefdom, Pujehun District Council representatives, Ministry of Health officials, women, and the elderly.

Foday K Jaward, the Program Manager of Healthcare Without Borders Sierra Leone, conveyed that this initiative aligns with their organization’s mission to foster development and upliftment in Gobaru and its neighboring communities.

Operating in Gobaru since the previous year, Healthcare Without Borders Sierra Leone notably established the Gobaru Community Health Center at Kpangba, catering to healthcare needs in the vicinity.

Jaward emphasized that the assistance provided was a commitment fulfilled, aimed at contributing to the socio-economic progress of the region. The 150 beneficiaries, aged 50 years and above, were carefully selected based on registration, recognizing the economic challenges faced, especially by the elderly population.

The donation, comprising 10kg bags of rice and accompanying oil, was specifically intended to bolster livelihood support during the festive season, especially as Christmas approaches.

Healthcare Without Borders Sierra Leone, a local Non-Governmental Organization dedicated to health and education, reiterated its primary goal of constructing schools and healthcare facilities. Chiefdoms like Sowa, Kpanga Krim, and Kpanga have been among the numerous beneficiaries of their impactful interventions.

Jandeh Conteh, a resident of Gobaru, expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries, acknowledging the significance of the aid amid economic constraints faced by the community.

It’s noteworthy that Healthcare Without Borders Sierra Leone receives support from the One Ummah Foundation, an Arab Community in the United States of America, enabling the continuance of their noble initiatives in Sierra Leone.
